Bryce Lee, Barn on the Pocomoke

Barn on the Pocomoke

Comment from Ms. Eplstein: This work caught my eye almost immediately for the  simple shapes and the light. Having been in a lot of barns, this piece reminds me  of a warm summer day, with the smell of animals and Paul McCarthy and Wings  on the radio.

Dottie Troxler, Breath of Monhegan

Breath of Monhegan

Comment from Ms. Eplstein: This has an immediacy like you’re driving down a  road in Maine and you want to stop a while. I like the shingled house in the bright  light. The colors of the flowers and house peeking out look like a place you could  sit on a hill and watch the day go by. This artist has created a strong sense of  space.

Carole Campbell, Watching My Wake

Watching My Wake

Comment from Ms. Eplstein: What hits me is the brush work, the energy and  color. It is not always easy to catch the color and shape of the waves. In this one  you can feel the movement of the wave coming up and curling.

Marge Bradach, The Sun Drops

The Sun Drops

Comment from Ms. Eplstein: It is an intimate piece. I like small pieces that you  can put in unexpected spaces, and when you look at them you get a sweet  surprise. There is a looseness of brushwork, it all reminds me of the Surrealists.  That things are as they should be but not in the order you expect.

Margie Labadie, Schooner Bay Woods

Schooner Bay Woods

Comment from Ms. Eplstein: Reminds me of Welliver, I never really liked him but  when you get up close to this piece, like him, she has made sense of the  complicated masses, and the color notes are fun. I like the way it all works  together and feels like you are in the woods in the middle of the day with a strong  sun on you.
